Some days I want to grind beans and make a proper cup. Other days I just want something sweet, creamy and quick. Maxim Mocha Gold Mild fits that second mood for me. My wife and I both enjoyed it, though someone who drinks black coffee may find it too sweet.
What I liked about the taste
The single-serving stick is what makes this coffee easy to keep around. I don’t need a coffee maker or separate sugar and creamer. The flavour is familiar and comforting to me, even though it’s a different experience from freshly brewed coffee.

How I prepare it
Begin with the amount of hot water printed on your packet and stir until dissolved. Taste before adding more water. A larger mug filled to the top can make one stick taste weak, while too little water makes both the sweetness and coffee more concentrated.
For an iced version, dissolve the mix in a small amount of hot water first, then add ice and cold water or milk to your preference. Ice dilutes the drink as it melts, so adjust gradually rather than assuming the hot and iced recipes need identical quantities.

The part I would watch: sweetness and serving size
The catch with a premixed stick is that you can’t easily turn down the sugar while keeping exactly the same amount of coffee and creamer. Look at the nutrition and allergen label on your pack, especially if you tend to make several cups in a day.
Enjoying the sweetness doesn’t make the sugar disappear. I would treat it as part of the drink, just as I would with any other sweetened coffee, rather than using a busy day as a reason to ignore it.
Buying a box
Check the price per stick after shipping, and look at the best-before date before ordering a large box. If you have not tried the flavour, a smaller pack is less of a commitment, even when the bigger one looks cheaper per cup.

Other Maxim options
If you want more control over sweetness, compare a clearly labelled plain instant coffee with the mixed varieties. Original black coffee and Original coffee mix are different formats; check the listing and ingredients carefully.

I still like Mocha Gold Mild for a quick, sweet cup. It doesn’t have to replace brewed coffee. For me, having both means I can make whichever sounds good that day.
