An empty suitcase should not use up more of your baggage allowance than it needs to. That is the appeal of lightweight it luggage for me. Before picking the biggest case, though, think about what you pack and how often you’ll have to lift it yourself.
My experience with an earlier it luggage suitcase
In my public-relations work, I travelled between company branches and tried several suitcases over the years. On a trip connected with a family emergency, I had nearly 30 kg of books, clothes and personal items to transport. A friend suggested it luggage, and the suitcase I used completed that trip with some scratches but no breakdown.
That trip tells you how my older suitcase held up on one journey, not how much every it luggage model can safely carry. I later used the bag on buses, trains, ferries and flights. Low empty weight was useful across those trips, but each airline still had its own allowance.
Lustrous Luxe and size differences
Lustrous Luxe is one of the options below. Be careful with the size labels: the US collection includes a 28-inch checked softside case and a carry-on, while listings in other markets may use different measurements. Match the exact model in your cart before comparing it with another bag.
Look for the overall height with wheels and handles, width, depth, empty weight and expanded depth. A label such as “large” or “32-inch” isn’t enough to work out whether the case fits your airline’s rules.

What I would check before a trip
- Airline limits: check the allowance for your fare and each operating airline, then weigh the packed bag.
- Handling: try the handle height and wheel movement, ideally with a realistic load.
- Packing: check whether the interior layout fits your belongings without forcing the zip shut.
- Storage: measure where the bag will live at home and whether you need to carry it upstairs.
A spinner can move neatly beside you on an airport floor. The walk from a station over rough paving is a different story, and stairs mean lifting the whole load. Think about those parts of the journey too, not just rolling through the terminal.
Warranty and locks
The US warranty requirements describe coverage and proof-of-purchase conditions. Keep your receipt and product information, and check the rules for your region. Manufacturing-defect cover should not be confused with automatic cover for airline damage or ordinary wear.
A security-compatible lock is a feature of a particular model, not a certification that a suitcase is accepted by every airline. Check whether a lock is included and follow the lock instructions. Airline size and weight rules still apply.

Would I choose lightweight it luggage again?
I would put a lightweight it luggage case on my shortlist when the size, handling and price work for the trip. “World’s Lightest” branding would not settle the decision for me. The bag still needs to be comfortable to use when it’s full.
